I will be posting pictures of cookies that I bake from scratch. The recipes used have been passed down from my mom and my aunts. I can bake to order. Among the authentic Italian/Sicilian goodies I make are:
Biscotti, various flavours
Chocolate raisin cookies
Taralli (lemon flavored delights that melt in your mouth)
Sesame seed cookies
Butter tarts (I am Canadian, after all!)
Suggestions are welcome! I'm sure that if I don't have the recipe, my mother will know how to make them.
I was raised in a home where "homemade" was the only way to make everything. Although I grew up in Canada, my home could have been transplanted to Sicily and fit right in! I'm glad my mother insisted that I learn how to cook and bake. If you come to my home and you smell cookies baking, I'm relaxing! It's how I unwind; it's how I relieve stress. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than baking and watching someone enjoy the fruits of my labor. I'm always experimenting with new recipes and I won't quit until they are perfect.
Of course, I have my taste tester, my husband, Nick, who will sample everything I bake as each tray comes out of the oven. My daughter, Nicole has also inherited the passion for cooking and baking and I am happy that the tradition will continue for another generation!
I have a passion to make the finest Italian cookies as taught by my mother and my aunts!
From the time I was a little girl, I helped my mother and my aunts bake cookies. Their love and passion was contagious. I have collected their recipes, tweaked some and have continued the tradition of baking with the finest ingredients, best being, love!
