Buddhism is generally listed as the world’s fourth largest religion after Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. It dates back roughly 2,500 years ago when Siddhartha Gotama, known as the Buddha, was enlightened at the age of 35. The Buddha taught many things, but the basic concepts in Buddhism can be summed up by the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.
